Q: Why are there so many used vehicles in Japan?

In Japan, once a vehicle is three years old it must be inspected and re-certified. This is a very costly affair and once completed, is only good for two years. With these policies in effect, combined with heavy incentives from the manufacturers, it makes more sense for the Japanese public to buy a new car every three years. This creates a high surplus of used vehicles that need expensive certification to be driven once again in Japan, and no domestic demand for them. This is a smart way for the Japanese Government to support their automotive manufacturers which are a large part of the Japanese economy.

Q: Are the vehicles inspected before being shipped?

Yes the vehicles are all inspected and detailed before being shipped to Kenya from Japan.
